In Esther 9:1-19 (Act 7) we are shown 2 descriptions of Holy War.
- Holy War is described in general terms.
- God granted victory to the Jews.
- God gave them mastery over their enemies on the proper day (v. 1).
- God caused their enemies not to be able to stand before them (v. 2).
- God caused the leaders to side with them instead of against them (v. 3).
- God gave them victory by the sword (v. 5).
- God gave Mordecai increasing fame (v. 4).
- Holy War is described in specific terms.
- 500 men killed in Susa’s citadel (vs. 6-11).
- Esther petitions the king.
- For an extension of the edict (vs. 12-13a).
- For Haman’s sons to be hanged (vs. 13b-14).
- 300 more enemies killed in Susa (v. 15).
- 75, 000 enemies killed kingdom-wide (v. 16)
- Victory is celebrated with resting, feasting, rejoicing & giving (vs. 17-19).
