Pastor Rob Davis: Eph. 4:7-11

In Ephesians 4:7-11 Paul continues his discussion of the unified body of Christ by describing three realities concerning gifts bestowed upon believers which demonstrate diversity within this unity.

1. Gifts are given to individual believers.
   1. These gifts are grace (v. 7a).
   2. These gifts are according to the measure of Christ’s gift (v. 7b).
2. Gifts are given by Christ.
   1. At His victorious ascension (v. 8).
   2. Following His incarnation and death (v. 9-10).
3. Gifts are given to the church.
   1. Apostles (v. 11a).
   2. Prophets (v. 11b).
   3. Evangelists (v. 11c).
   4. Pastors (v. 11d).
   5. Teachers (v. 11e).
