In Haggai 1:1-15 Haggai delivers his first 2 oracles from the Lord.

1. Oracle #1 August 29th, 520 BC (v. 1a) — God says: “Rebuild My house!� (vv. 7-8)
   1. Prophet: Haggai (v. 1b).
   2. Recipients:
      1. Zerubbabel the governor (v. 1c).
      2. Joshua the high priest (v. 1d).
   3. Content:
      1. Assessment of the reality of the remnant’s disobedience: Wrong priorities (vv. 2-4).
      2. Assessment of the results of the remnant’s disobedience.
         1. Financial & physical poverty (vv. 6 & 9a, b).
         2. Agricultural poverty (vv. 10-11)
      3. Assessment of the reason for the results of the remnant’s disobedience: You care more about your own prosperity than my presence! (v. 9c).
      4. Central command: Consider your ways, reconsider your priorities, and rebuild My house! (vv. 5, 7-8).
2. Oracle #2: September 21st, 520 BC (v. 15) — God says: “I am with you!� (v.13)
   1. Because God’s people obeyed His word with their whole hearts and feared Him (v. 12).
   2. Because God’s stirred up the spirit of His people (v. 14a, b, c).
   3. Because God’s people obeyed with their deed’s (v. 14d).

Pastor Rob Davis: Ephesians 6:18-24

In Ephesians 6:10-24 Paul closes this magnificent letter with 6 specifics concerning the believer’s spiritual battle.

1. The resource for the battle is God’s might.
   1. Be strong from a position of strength (v. 10a).
   2. Be strong in the source of strength (v. 10b).
2. The apparel for the battle is God’s armor (v. 11a).
   1. Loins girded with truth (v. 14a)
   2. Breastplate of righteousness (v. 14b)
   3. Feet shod with the preparation of the Gospel of peace (v. 15)
   4. Shield of faith (v. 16)
   5. Helmet of salvation (v. 17a)
   6. Sword of the Spirit (v. 17b)
3. The purpose of the battle is to resist Satan’s schemes (v. 11b).
4. The opponents in the battle are Satan and His agents (v. 12).
5. The result of the battle is victory.
   1. Resisting (v. 13a, b)
   2. Standing firm (v. 13c, d)
6. The front line offensive in the battle is prayer.
   1. Prayer which is to be all-encompassing.
      1. All types (v. 18a)
      2. All times (v. 18b)
      3. With all tenacity (v. 18c)
      4. For all believers (v. 18d)
   2. Prayer which is to be specific (v. 19-20).
   3. Prayer which may be answered through you (v. 21-22).
   4. Paul prays for the Ephesians (v. 23-24).
